Lexar Previews the Feature-Packed PexarBolt Ultra Hardware
Lexar announced the PexarBolt Ultra on 16 August 2026 as an upcoming Thunderbolt 5 docking station released under its Pexar brand. The unit is scheduled for a formal showcase at the IFA technology trade show before launching via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
Positioned at a planned retail price of $649, the dock will offer a Super Early Bird tier at $479 for early backers. Built for creative professionals and multi-monitor workstations, the actively cooled device addresses power management and high-bandwidth data transfers in a single desktop footprint.
Twenty-Two Connectivity Ports and High-Bandwidth Display Outputs
The PexarBolt Ultra integrates a comprehensive array of physical connectors designed to replace multiple individual adapters and desktop dongles:
- Three Thunderbolt 5 ports operating at 80 Gbps with dynamic bandwidth boosting up to 120 Gbps, delivering up to 140 watts of power to the host computer.
- DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 display outputs capable of driving two 8K displays at 60 Hz or three 4K monitors at 144 Hz simultaneously.
- Internal M.2 NVMe SSD slot supporting PCIe Gen 4x2 speeds up to 3,600 MB/s alongside a 10GbE high-speed Ethernet port.
- Five USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports delivering 10 Gbps speeds, four USB-A ports, and triple card reader slots for CFexpress Type B, SD 4.0, and microSD 4.0 media.
Integrated Dashboard Screen Shift Telemetry to the Workstation Control Surface
Beyond raw port expansion, the inclusion of an integrated 5-inch touchscreen accompanied by a physical rotary dial changes how users interact with desktop peripherals. Rather than relying on background software utilities or trial-and-error cable swapping, the front display presents real-time telemetry showing live power draw across connected ports, active data transfer speeds, and internal operating temperatures.
The physical dial allows operators to switch active display profiles and adjust settings without navigating operating system submenus. By combining high-wattage power delivery with visible telemetry and direct internal storage expansion, Lexar shifts the docking hub from a passive cable collector into an active hardware control console for demanding desktop setups.
