Sony's State of Play Reveals Multiplatform Availability for Key Titles

Sony's recent State of Play event generated significant buzz, leading many viewers to assume that every featured title was a PlayStation 5 exclusive. However, the reality is more nuanced; the showcase utilized smart marketing to keep focus on the PlayStation ecosystem. This analysis details the actual platform availability for several major titles revealed during the event, demonstrating that many highly anticipated games are available across multiple consoles and PC.

Sony’s June 2026 State of Play featured a heavy slate of upcoming releases, leading to widespread speculation regarding their exclusivity. According to Lordsofgaming, while Sony aims to maintain focus on PlayStation owners, many titles presented have broader platform availability than initially suggested by the marketing campaign.

Multiplatform Releases and Reimagining

Several games showcased are not strictly PS5 exclusives, offering players flexibility across various hardware. For instance, Rayman Legends Retold is a full 3D reimagining of the 2013 platformer. It will be available on multiple systems, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with an October 1, 2026 release date.

Another highly anticipated title is Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. Crystal Dynamics and co-developer Flying Wild Hog are returning Lara Croft to her roots in this project. The game will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on February 12, 2027. This release lands simultaneously across all four platforms.

Revivals and New Action RPGs

The State of Play also highlighted several revivals and new action-RPGs with diverse rollout strategies. Koei Tecmo is reviving the popular musou canon with Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, which bundles both the original game and its Xtreme Legends expansion into a single package. This remastered title launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC starting October 1, 2026.

In contrast to simultaneous releases, Moon Studios’ painterly Souls-like action-RPG, No Rest for the Wicked, is adopting a staggered release model. After two years in Steam Early Access, Version 1.0 ships on PS5 and PC in October 2026. Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 are confirmed for later, unannounced dates. The full version promises over 100 hours of content and online co-op support.

Aerial Combat Returns

Bandai Namco’s long-running aerial combat series also made a return appearance with Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. This title is set to launch on October 2, 2026, across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It promises the classic experience: a dramatic campaign featuring 30 pilotable aircraft spanning real-world fighters and fictional superweapons.

The variety of release strategies—from simultaneous multiplatform launches to staggered console rollouts—demonstrates how developers are navigating modern hardware landscapes while maintaining marketing focus on specific ecosystems. These titles confirm that the competitive gaming market continues to prioritize accessibility across diverse platforms.
