According to News, Nexon Co. has opened the registration portal for the Nexon Young Programmers Cup (NYPC) 2026, transforming the long-running tournament into a cutting-edge platform focused on AI integration. Since its inception in 2016, NYPC has served as a symbolic event for programming excellence; however, this year introduces a comprehensive format change that requires contestants to directly leverage the power of artificial intelligence.
The Evolution to Generative AI Strategy
NYPC 2026 fundamentally changes the nature of competition. Instead of relying solely on traditional algorithms, participants must now build tactics and solve complex challenges using generative AI applications. This shift emphasizes strategic thinking alongside technical proficiency. The tournament supports a wide range of programming languages, including C, C++, Python, and Java, ensuring broad accessibility for diverse skill sets.
Global Scope and Vietnamese Opportunity
This year represents a historical milestone as NYPC transforms into a global competition, with Vietnam being selected as the inaugural international destination. Young Vietnamese talents are invited to compete directly in the Master Track qualifiers, an arena specifically designed for university students. The challenges presented involve breathtaking battles between AI agents, where success depends on the ability to predict situations, respond flexibly, and neutralize opponent tactics.
- The competition features two distinct stages: an Online Preliminary Round and a Live Final Round held in Korea.
- The Preliminary Round runs from June 29 to July 8, allowing contestants flexibility to solve problems within prescribed time limits.
- Top performers who successfully pass the preliminary stage receive a golden ticket guaranteeing advancement straight to the final round in Korea.
Prizes and Industry Support
Beyond the competitive challenge, the organizers offer substantial support for participants. All costs associated with travel—including round-trip air tickets, accommodation, and related expenses—are fully sponsored by Nexon Co. Furthermore, the tournament champion will receive valuable cash prizes alongside a special opportunity to participate in an attractive practical experience internship program at Nexon Group.
To integrate the event closely with the domestic technology community, Nexon is coordinating with its subsidiary, Nexon Dev Vina (NDVN).
