Warner Bros. Games has set the official release date for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on the Nintendo Switch 2 as September 18. The port brings the acclaimed open-world adventure to Nintendo’s hybrid console, targeting a massive new audience while maintaining the dynamic combat system and deep comic lore established by TT Games.

Mayhem Collection Expands Gotham City

The launch coincides with the debut of the Mayhem Collection DLC across all platforms. This substantial expansion introduces significant narrative and gameplay changes to the open-world environment of Gotham City. Players gain access to new story missions, allowing them to take on the roles of The Joker and Harley Quinn.

In addition to the villain-centric content, the collection features a dedicated Mayhem Mode designed for high-intensity action. The Sinister Pack further enhances customization and exploration, providing:

  • Alternate outfits for 7 existing playable characters
  • 5 extra Batcave items
  • An entirely new Batmobile model

Collector Editions and Early Access

The game will be available in two tiers: a $70 USD Standard Edition and a $90 USD Deluxe Edition. The premium tier offers immediate incentives for collectors, including:

  • A free Retro Video Game Batman minifigure, which features a purple pixelated design paying homage to the classic 1989 Sunsoft title released on the NES
  • Immediate access to a specialized Dark Knight Returns Batsuit upon pre-order

Furthermore, premium buyers receive a three-day early access period beginning September 15. For existing owners of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, an upgrade path is available for $25 to unlock the Legacy Collection before the Mayhem update drops this fall.

Bringing Superhero Action to a New Audience

The arrival of the title on the Nintendo Switch 2 represents a definitive superhero experience being brought to a new console generation. The base game has already established itself as a benchmark for family-friendly action, and the expansion cycle ensures that fans across all platforms remain engaged with the evolving Gotham narrative.

This strategic release not only caters to dedicated LEGO enthusiasts but also leverages the Switch 2’s growing market share, cementing the franchise's presence in modern gaming culture. The combination of high production value and extensive post-launch content promises a long and engaging lifecycle for the title.
