According to Carlelo, recent spy images of the next-generation Hyundai Creta have surfaced, showing the vehicle undergoing real-world road testing under heavy camouflage. These latest glimpses suggest a radical departure from the previous model's softer aesthetics toward a more commanding and boxy silhouette that aligns with Hyundai's evolving SUV design philosophy.
Platform transition and dimensions
The most significant technical shift for the upcoming Creta is its move to the new K3 platform. While the current iteration relies on the K2 architecture, the K3 platform allows for a much-expanded footprint. The vehicle's overall length is expected to grow from 4.3 meters to nearly 4.5 meters, providing a significantly longer wheelbase.
This structural change offers several key advantages for the manufacturer:
- Enhanced structural rigidity and improved crash safety ratings.
- Lower Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) levels for a quieter cabin.
- Increased readiness for future electrification modules.
- Maximised second-row legroom to appeal to family buyers.
Exterior design and interior luxury
The spy images highlight a taller, more traditional SUV stance featuring a flat bonnet line and a vertically stacked front grille. Notably, the flagship prototypes have been spotted equipped with massive 19-inch alloy wheels featuring geometric patterns. Inside, Hyundai is pushing the Creta into a more premium segment by incorporating high-tech features like the Pleos Connect system.
The interior will feature a large freestanding touchscreen and several executive-class amenities:
- A dedicated "Zero-Gravity" seat button for full reclining with an ottoman.
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
- An AI assistant named Gleo and over-the-air update capabilities.
- Level 2 ADAS technology and a panoramic sunroof.
Powertrain and market competition
While the new Creta will retain established options including a 115hp 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 116hp 1.5L turbo diesel, and a 160hp 1.5L turbo petrol engine, the headline update is the development of a strong-hybrid powertrain. This move is specifically designed to challenge competitors such as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder hybrid in the growing eco-friendly SUV market.
