Samsung Details Which Galaxy Models Will Receive Android 17 and One

Google is preparing to release Android 17 soon, and Samsung is developing its custom overlay, One UI 9. The company has committed to providing users with between 4 and 7 years of system updates for its devices, ensuring a vast number of phones will receive the new operating system. While Samsung employs a staggered rollout strategy, prioritizing flagship models first, it has provided an extensive list detailing which Galaxy series are slated for future support.

According to Samsungmagazine, Google is nearing the release of Android 17, and Samsung is simultaneously working on its proprietary interface, One UI 9. This update represents a significant commitment from the manufacturer, who promises users between 4 and 7 years of software updates for their devices. Unlike Apple’s global simultaneous rollout, Samsung adopts a phased approach, beginning with its newest flagship models before descending into older and mid-range devices.

Samsung's Update Rollout Strategy

The company’s policy dictates that the update process starts with the latest Galaxy S series flagships, followed by the broader Galaxy A and M series. While an official master list is not available, current policies strongly indicate which models are guaranteed to receive Android 17 and One UI 9 in the coming years.

Flagship and Foldable Device Support

The high-end lines of the Galaxy S series are confirmed for support across multiple generations. This includes:

  • Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and S23 FE
  • Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, and S24 FE
  • Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 FE, and S25 Edge
  • Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra

The foldable Galaxy Z series also maintains strong support. Current models like the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 are slated for updates alongside newer iterations such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and eventually the Galaxy Z TriFold.

Mid-Range Device Coverage

The mid-range Galaxy A, M, and F series also qualify for significant support. Although the list is not exhaustive, several key models are confirmed to receive the latest Android version:

  • Galaxy A06, A07; Galaxy A15, A16, and A17
  • Galaxy A24, A25, and A26; Galaxy A34, A35, A36, and A37
  • Galaxy A54, A55, A56, and A57
  • Galaxy M15 through M56 series; Galaxy F15 through F55 series

It is worth noting that even devices released in 2023 are expected to receive the latest Android version, contingent upon regional factors and carrier agreements. Furthermore, One UI 9 will debut with Samsung’s upcoming summer launches, including the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, and Z Flip8.

The comprehensive support structure for both premium flagships and budget-friendly mid-range devices underscores Samsung's commitment to extending the functional lifespan of its hardware across diverse consumer segments.
